A bipartisan delegation of Midwestern state legislators traveled to Germany in June to attend the 2026 Annual Conference of The Clean Economy Bridge (TCB), a transatlantic initiative that brings together leaders from Canada, Germany and the United States to strengthen cooperation on issues related to energy and the economy. Held in Berlin, this year’s conference focused on the intersection of agriculture and energy.

As part of its staff support for the binational, nonpartisan Midwestern Legislative Conference, the Midwestern Office of The Council Governments organized the delegation: Ohio Sen. Brian Chavez, Minnesota Rep. Jim Joy, Indiana Sen. Jean Leising, Illinois State Rep. Anna Moeller and North Dakota Rep. Steve Swiontek. CSG regularly organizes delegations of legislators and other officials to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.

The TCB Annual Conference is supported by the German federal government and convenes representatives from subnational governments, industry, research institutions and civil society across Canada, Germany and the United States.

The conference was hosted by Adelphi, a leading independent public policy consultancy that works closely with the German government to connect research with practical policy implementation. Adelphi and CSG  have partnered for many years to provide opportunities for U.S. state legislators to participate in international policy exchanges, learning opportunities and programming.
