2022 MLC Midwest-Canada Relations Committee Meeting

In conjunction with the 76th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference (MLC), the MLC Midwest-Canada Relations Committee held its 2022 Meeting on Sunday, July 10, in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to traditional committee business, this meeting also included an overarching discussion on the state of the border over the last year. Topics included technological innovations to ease crossing, binational cooperation, vaccine mandates, COVID-19 testing, human trafficking concerns, etc.

The committee also hosted a general attendance session on Tuesday, July 12, on how smaller firms are engaging in the Canada-United States supply chain. This session included examples from both sides of the border of how companies throughout the region, not just those in border states, are part of Canada-U.S. trade. Furthermore, state and provincial officials learned what they can do to make sure smaller firms have the knowledge and tools to export.
