2025 MLC Energy & Environment Committee Meeting

In conjunction with the 79th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference in Saskatoon, Sask., the MLC Energy & Environment Committee will meet and lead policy sessions. The MLC Annual Meeting is being held July 27-30.

During committee-led sessions on the first day of the meeting, participating legislators will explore trends and advances in nuclear energy and policy, as well as the potential for future cross-border partnerships. The meeting also will include several other sessions and events that focus on the 2025 MLC Chair’s Initiative of Saskatchewan MLA Lori Carr: “North American Energy Security: Powering the Future.” Additionally, a session on the afternoon of July 29 will look at promising practices to improve flood protection in the region’s rural and agricultural areas.

The MLC Energy & Environment Committee meets at least once a year as part of the MLC Annual Meeting, most recently in Columbus, Ohio, in 2024 and Detroit in 2023. Other committee-led activities include hosting webinars and in-person workshops for legislators, developing policy resources and providing individualized research assistance.
