2025 MLC Health & Human Services Committee Meeting

In conjunction with the 79th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference in Saskatoon, Sask., the MLC Health & Human Services Committee will meet and lead policy sessions on Sunday, July 27, and Monday, July 28.

During these sessions, participating legislators will explore the potential of virtual health hubs and telehealth to improve access to quality, advanced-care health services in the often-underserved areas of states and provinces. They also will hear about promising initiatives to improve services and outcomes for children in child welfare systems and learn about a promising peer-model approach to mental health and substance abuse treatment.

The MLC Health & Human Services Committee meets at least once a year as part of the MLC Annual Meeting, most recently in Columbus, Ohio, in 2024 and Detroit in 2023. Other committee-led activities include hosting webinars and in-person workshops for legislators, developing policy resources and providing individualized research assistance.
