MLC Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Site Visit

July

10

The MLC’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee will meet in conjunction with the 75th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference

During this year’s 75th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Legislative Conference, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee invites you to join us on some related site visits around Rapid City. You do not have to be a member of the Committee to participate.

On Saturday, July 10, from 1:30-8:00 p.m., we will be visiting:

  • Cleghorn Springs Fish Hatchery —  a historic (built in 1928) state-owned fish hatchery producing over 100,000 pounds of trout and salmon each year.
  • The state owned Outdoor Campus in Rapid City, which provides hands-on experiences in hunting, fishing and other outdoor skills. We will explore indoor exhibits showcasing a variety of western South Dakota habitats and wildlife, along with a 4,600-gallon freshwater aquarium and might do some fishing and archery!
  •  777 Bison Ranch has been raising bison for more than 30 years. It is located in an area of mixed short grass prairie and has set high goals to educating people about bison, ranching, conservation and the prairie while caring for the land to provide a diverse healthy landscape for future generations of bison, wildlife, plants and people.

Dinner and snacks are included. While spouses and guests are welcome, attendance is limited and preregistration is required. For questions or to register contact Carolyn Orr.
