The Midwest-Canada Relations Committee and Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus invite state and provincial legislators, as well as staff and partner organizations, to join them to learn more about Indigenous Treaty Law. Angelique EagleWoman, Professor and Director of the Native American Law and Sovereignty Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, and Karen Drake, Associate Professor at Osgood Hall Law School at York University, will present an overview of what legislators should know about existing treaty obligations and implications for state/provincial partnerships with Indigenous nations, particularly related to water and the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River basin.
