Reentry 2030: A Path to Improved Outcomes, Public Safety and Cost Savings (Webinar)
During this webinar – hosted by The Council of State Governments’ Midwestern Legislative Conference Corrections & Public Safety Forum – Nina Salomon and Megan Pfeiffer of the CSG Justice Center explored the challenges facing individuals returning to their communities from incarceration.
They then shared ways that the Reentry 2030 initiative helps participating states coordinate and strengthen services. Steve Fannon, deputy director for reentry services with the Nebraska Department of Corrections, also explained how his state has lowered barriers for those leaving incarceration since becoming a Reentry 2030 participant.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people leave incarceration facing enormous barriers to housing, employment, health care and education. At the same time, states are grappling with workforce shortages, rising homelessness, and increased public safety demands.
Without a coordinated approach to reentry, these interconnected challenges persist — costing states an estimated $8 billion annually in reincarceration costs alone.
Reentry 2030 is a bold, state-led initiative to dramatically improve outcomes for people returning from incarceration and those under supervision. Launched by the CSG Justice Center, it provides a comprehensive framework to help states develop solutions for their unique needs.
