New laws and investments to boost the housing stock are a continuing focus of state legislatures across the Midwest. As part of this activity, many policymakers are revisiting government rules around zoning and building codes — regulatory frameworks that have historically fallen to local governments. This webinar will explore options and practical approaches for state legislators regarding these systems.

Open to all, and designed for state legislators, legislative staff, and other state policy leaders, this webinar is being hosted by The Council of State Governments’ Midwestern Legislative Conference Economic Development & Infrastructure Committee. Two experts on housing and regulatory policy will share their insights and perspectives with attendees: Alex Horowitz, director of the Pew Charitable Trusts’ Housing Policy Initiative; and Todd Sims, senior director of regulatory and industry affairs at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
