Under the Dome in Minnesota: Critical Minerals Policy Briefing
All Minnesota senators, representatives and legislative staff are invited to an April 8 policy briefing on critical minerals at the Minnesota Capitol.
Dr. Charles Bopp will lead a discussion about the defining characteristics of critical minerals and their importance, as well as help participants explore the economic and environmental impacts of increased critical mineral mining, processing and manufacturing. A resource geologist, Dr. Bopp is a leading authority on critical minerals and serves as assistant director of the Critical Minerals Research and Development Center at the University of Illinois.

Featured Presenter: Dr. Charles Bopp, assistant director of the Critical Minerals Research & Development Center at the University of Illinois. Dr. Bopp conducts research focusing on conventional and unconventional
resources, as well as the reuse of waste for critical minerals. His recent work includes resource estimation of critical minerals in coal seams, along with engineering studies on tailings reuse, waste valorization, and zero-waste mining.
