Critical Minerals & the Midwest: Policy Workshop for Legislators
The Midwest’s state and provincial legislators were invited to this workshop, which aimed to deepen their understanding of the importance of critical minerals to the region and the role of public policy. The event was held Nov. 14-15 in Chicago. Participating legislators were eligible for a travel scholarship.
Two committees of The Council of State Governments’ Midwestern Legislative Conference, Midwest-Canada Relations and Energy & Environment, hosted the workshop in conjunction with the Consulate General of Canada in Chicago.
During this one-and-a-half-day workshop, participants gained an understanding about critical minerals, their end uses, the importance of regional supply chains, and related public policies. The event took place at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown River North. Legislators were joined at the workshop by leading experts on critical minerals from organizations such as the U.S. Geological Survey, the Illinois State Geological Survey, the Critical Minerals Institute and the Rocky Mountain Institute.
Registration and hotel reservations have closed for this event. Please contact CSG Midwest’s Mitch Arvidson if you have any questions or concerns.
